The Mission
To ease your journey into finding yourself again and discovering what you are capable of after decades of being immersed in parenting.
You don’t have to experience grief and loneliness once parenting tasks stop filling up your day and your home is empty and quiet. Your children may have left home to find their independence but that doesn’t mean that you have lost your purpose. It’s just that you will now face a new set of challenges. Your relationship with your children will still exist only that you will need to adjust the kind of relationship you have with them. One thing you might encounter is a lack of sympathy from friends and family, especially younger ones, who believe that you should be happy because your children have left home — and that is when you will start to crave a connection with people wo actually understand what you are going through.
About the Founder
Hi, my name is Christine and I am a mother of two beautiful teenage girls and a pre-school-aged boy. I was a late bloomer and had my first child at almost 31. It means that I will be 49 years old when my first daughter turns 18 and 52 when my younger daughter turns 18. Let’s not even talk about our youngest who will turn 18 when my husband and I will be 59 and 60 years old and just about to retire. I have often dreaded the thought of having to raise college fees after retirement. Now that it is a reality and something that we will have to do. I have reflected a lot on how possible it is and realised that it all boils down to planning and good planning at that. Armed with information, inspiration and incentive, you can do anything you put your mind to. Here’s to an organised, well-thought-out, well-planned and well-covered Empty Nest experience.
